I met with the first of my wedding couples for this year on Sunday. First of all, the cafe au lait that I had was memorably  delicious – thank you downtown Beanery! Then, Krista and Robin arrived and turned out to just as fabulously awesome as I was expecting and then some. They have known each other for years and have that kind of true BFF coziness together that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Then we took a little hike to my favorite river spot. Krista and Robin had been feeling a little nervous about the session – most of us grown-ups aren’t so used to being photographed and it’s very common. But they sat down, they laughed, they relaxed, and then all kinds loveliness happened. They are just so cool together! I can’t wait for their wedding this summer.

If you are browsing the blog looking for clothing ideas for your own portrait session, Krista and Robin picked a fabulous pair of outfits. Krista’s sweater picks up a little bit of the color in Robin’s shirt, the blue and khaki of her dress looks great with his jeans, and the whole thing works beautifully together without being too matchy-matchy.

The image below on the right is one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken. So peaceful and beautiful, and Krista is so gorgeous. And Robin, look at your handsome self!

One of my favorite little baby boys ever came in to see me yesterday. He just keeps getting cuter and more animated all the time! His mom knows so many good songs and fun games, he was very engaged with us the whole time…until his book came out, then he became quickly engrossed in looking at the pictures of pets and became oblivious to everything! He loved the wooden spoon and pot mom brought for him too.

Something I love about working in the studio with little ones is that the focus is entirely on that sweet little baby – all his cute little expressions and movements. This is a gorgeous age for baby portraits, sitting up strongly and eager to laugh and play, but not yet mobile and interested in escape! I’m really excited to be offering studio portraits for babies now – I’ve been planning it for a while and I’m so glad the ball is finally rolling!

He loved the feeling of the soft rug…
I so love these cute little jammies! Jack and Ella had the same ones. I think holding a baby wearing cute jammies is one of the best feelings in the world! Look how he has his feet inside the book and is turning the pages at the same time. Only in babyhood!
