I met Layne and his sister a couple of years ago for her senior portrait session (here they are), and it was so nice to see them again. Layne’s mom put together a gorgeous wall gallery of both her beautiful kids, and she got it up on the wall very quickly too, I was impressed! Layne is a talented baseball player, so we met out at the baseball fields where he and his dad have spent a lot of time over the years. Those last few months of playing a sport in high school are bittersweet – whether or not you are going on to play in college, it’s the end of all those childhood practices, team moms, dads coaching, Saturday games with parents on the sidelines. My son has been playing soccer since kindergarten and it’s just starting to dawn on me that he’ll be taking himself and his cleats off to college in 18 months and maybe I will really miss that big soccer backpack that he leaves so conveniently parked in front of the door!
